Plenary Lecture at 3rd Italian Workshop on Ammonia Energy
Antonio Vita presents Plenary Lecture at Third Italian Workshop on Ammonia Energy 15-16 May in Pisa (Italy)

CNR-ITAE is proud to announce the participation of Dr. Antonio Vita in the Third Italian Workshop on Ammonia Energy, where he delivered a prestigious plenary lecture titled:
“Ammonia as Next‑Generation Energy Carrier: Advanced Structured Catalysts and Reactors for the Intensification of Ammonia Synthesis and Cracking Processes.” (Presentation CLICK HERE)
Held as part of a national initiative to accelerate innovation in ammonia-based energy systems, the workshop brought together leading researchers, industry experts, and policymakers. Dr. Vita’s contribution highlighted the most recent scientific advancements from the CNR-ITAE research group, focusing on the design and implementation of novel catalytic materials and intensified reactor technologies that can significantly enhance the performance and sustainability of green ammonia production and utilization.
The lecture underscored ammonia’s potential as a carbon-free energy carrier and the role of advanced process intensification strategies in making ammonia a viable solution for future energy systems. Dr. Vita showcased recent experimental and modeling results that pave the way for more compact, efficient, and scalable systems for both ammonia synthesis and cracking.
In addition to sharing technical insights, Dr. Vita also used the occasion to disseminate key findings and objectives from two major Horizon Europe projects coordinated by CNR-ITAE: AMBHER and ANDREAH projects.
Both projects aim to tackle fundamental challenges in ammonia-based energy pathways, from materials development to system-level integration, positioning Europe at the forefront of sustainable energy innovation.
Dr. Vita’s plenary session was met with great interest, contributing meaningfully to the ongoing dialogue about how ammonia can play a transformative role in the global clean energy transition
