AMBHER at MAKERS DAY 2026
After four years of research and collaboration, the AMBHER project has reached its conclusion. But before closing the chapter, the project had one more opportunity to bring its research closer to the public.
On 12 and 13 September 2026, AMBHER participated in Maker Days Eindhoven through the TEENTECH2 programme, coordinated by 1CUBE. Together with four other EU-funded projects — ANDREAH, ELEKTRA, APOLO and MemCat — AMBHER joined the festival at the Klokgebouw in Strijp-S, where more than 10,000 visitors came together to explore innovation, creativity and technology.

AMBHER has spent four years developing solutions for hydrogen storage using green ammonia and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs).
The project explored two complementary approaches: ammonia as a carrier for long-term and seasonal hydrogen storage, and nanoporous MOFs for compressed hydrogen storage. Through the development of advanced materials, catalysts, membranes and reactor technologies, AMBHER investigated new pathways towards more efficient hydrogen storage solutions.
At Maker Days, these complex research topics were introduced in a completely different environment.
Through the TEENTECH2 stand organised and coordinated by 1CUBE, visitors could discover the science behind hydrogen and the energy transition through interactive activities, games and conversations.
The Hydrogen Quiz, Hydrogen Memory Game, Hydrogen Word Search and colouring activities offered younger visitors a fun and accessible way to engage with topics that are normally discussed in laboratories, conferences and research meetings.

For AMBHER, participating in Maker Days was not simply about presenting the project. It was about creating a space where people could ask questions, discover new ideas and connect scientific research with everyday life.
How can hydrogen be stored?
Why is ammonia being considered as a hydrogen carrier?
What role can new materials play in the energy transition?
These questions provided a starting point for conversations with families, young people, makers and technology enthusiasts visiting the festival.
Projects may have a defined start and end date, but the knowledge, conversations and connections they create can continue beyond the project lifetime.
For AMBHER, Maker Days provided a fitting final opportunity to take the project’s research beyond its traditional scientific environment and share it with society.
After four years of research, AMBHER closed its journey by bringing hydrogen research closer to people — one conversation, one question and one game at a time.
